Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.
I am one of the few who have not read the Kate Daniels series (making up for that now), so Burn For Me was my first Ilona Andrews book. I was SO excited.
I absolutely LOVE Nevada! She is the kick ass sort of character I like, without being overly confident in herself. She is stuck in a situation she knows she is in over her head with, but sticks her neck out there and will do her best to overcome.
Then we have Mad Rogan. His attitude is a great match for Nevada. It drives her crazy and just makes for the best confrontations. Nevada is desperately trying to fight her attraction to Rogan and their interactions are so much fun.
Nevada’s mission, which ends up being the same thing Rogan is looking for involves great magical powers, and a lot of excitement in trying to stop the perpetrator and clear Rogan’s nephew’s name. There are some great action scenes that just end up bringing Nevada & Rogan closer together.
I don’t want to say too much about the ending, but it was a big surprise and I am so excited to see where it goes from here.
