Every inch of him was molded as if from granite...and her blood ran like fire...
For centuries, V has waited to awaken from his doomed sleep and reclaim his destiny. But this Dragon King--one among a legion of legendary warriors sworn to protect the human race from darkness--must first find a way to win back his sword. Wield its power. And try not to fall prey to his own illicit desires.
Claire may possess the beauty and soul of a goddess but V knows better than to mess with a mere mortal. Still, he instinctively knows that Claire is The One who can help him regain the use of his sword and restore his place at Dreagan. But if she learns the truth about who--and what--he really is, her memories of him would be erased forever. How can V love Claire truly, madly, deeply...and protect her from the forces of fire and darkness that could destroy them both?

Ignite, book 15 in the Dark Kings series features the Dragon King Vlad or V as he is known as. In the previous book, he finally retrieved his sword. He has a secret about his sword and that secret is making him feel like he should just retire back to his mountain.
V has had an interest in Sophie’s best friend Claire. He feels a pull, but is determined not to bring her into this world. With the Others out there and the upcoming war with the Light’s queen, V does not feel like it is the place for a mortal. Back to him feeling like going back to sleep would be best.
Claire is having a hard time in the dating world. She just gets blown off by another guy when V catches her eye. She knows she can’t fall for him for fear of having her memory wiped, but she can’t stay away.
I couldn’t help but feel like this is the story before the end. I haven’t confirmed anything but that is the feeling I got from the story. The romance was great, and I loved V and Claire coming together. Their romance was swift but Claire didn’t feel they were truly a couple for quite awhile. She didn’t know where she stood besides a bed partner.
While the romance was hot, the action was definitely lacking. Most of the story was spent planning the attack on the Queen of the Light with Rhi. I feel like we are getting close to knowing who Rhi’s King is, at least I’ve got a guess after all the mentions in this book. Despite the lack of action, the Queen does get in a couple of little digs that leave the Kings both upset and struggling to come together with a good plan. Ignite came with some good revelations and a lot of planning and strategizing. It leaves me thinking that this is the preparation for the final war. Pieces are being laid in place and we are left ready to take on the queen and possibly the Others.
I enjoyed Ignite although I missed the action. This book definitely had some features missing but I’m sure they are just in preparation for the next book. Making me even more excited for it’s release!
