Fueled by ancient magic—and enflamed by human desire—the Dragon King known as Hal can transform himself at will into one of the legendary winged creatures he is sworn to protect. But one thing he can never do is fall in love…with a mortal woman.

Searching for her brother in Scotland—and succumbing to the freezing cold—Cassie Hunter awakens to find herself in the arms of a magnificent Highland warrior. Across his chest is the tattoo of a fiery dragon. And in his heart is a burning passion that, once unleashed, will consume them both…body and soul.

This is a story of destiny and desire, magic and mystery, warriors and lovers.

These are the forbidden cravings of the Dark Kings.

Dark Craving is the intro into Donna Grant’s new Dark Kings world. I haven’t read a lot of dragon shifter books, but whew, this one was great! Knew it would be when I saw that cover!

We are slowly introduced to the group of men living in seclusion on Draegon land. This story starts off with Hal when he meets up Cassie. Cassie is in Scotland to meet up with her brother and hopefully start a new life. It sure doesn’t start out pleasant for her, but her rescuer will turn that around for her!

The men of Draegon have kept their secret for thousands of years with a lot of work and planning. Now there is this human female who has managed to steal Hal’s heart. After their previous experience with one of their brothers and his human mate, the guys are very anxious about letting another human in on their secret.

I found Cassie fun. She handled all the new revelations very well and I found her quite down to earth. Hal and Cassie were great together. He fought it, for the sake of his brothers and his dragons, but it all worked out.

This was a pretty short story and is just giving us a small taste of what is to come. Setting the scene for the fuller length novels. Dark Craving was good and I’m excited to see where it is headed.
