She wasn’t ready to lead...

Chosen as the Guardian of her Montana Shiftertown, wolf Shifter Rae Lyall is facing opposition—for no woman has ever been selected for this powerful position. Still adjusting to the new authority thrust upon her, Rae travels to train with Zander Moncrieff, a Shifter healer, tasked with teaching her about her new role and its responsibilities.

He wasn’t ready to love...

A polar bear Shifter, Zander wears no Collar and follows no rules but his own. Rae finds him arrogant and demanding, yet compelling and intriguing. Zander has no wish to mate but the sassy Guardian is drawing him out of his shell, stirring feelings long suppressed. And when a new threat looms over Rae’s home, she and Zander must race to the rescue, forced closer to danger...and to each other.

Guardian’s Mate was one of my favorites of this series I think. Zander is one of those characters that you can’t help but love. He’s funny and protective and just an all around likable character. He skates on the nerves of some of the other shifters, but he just has some social issues.

Rae is in a position that is unacceptable by the shifters. She didn’t ask for the position, but she has become the Guardian of the Montana Shiftertown. For her safety and experience Rae is sent to Zander to learn how to be a Guardian.

Rae lands in Zanders care while he is out on his boat for a fishing trip. The two deal with danger at sea before heading back to Montana to help Rae’s pack deal with an enemy there. That enemy turns into a big event where the help of of the Austin shiftertown is needed.

Guardian’s Mate had a really sweet romance. Zander is a great hero and I love how the two came together. Our storyline was exciting with an amazing, adrenaline filled ending. I was hooked right from the beginning with Zander’s wit and attitude. You can’t help but love him. Seeing him deal with his tendency to be a loner to someone who desperately needs a person to be with him was interesting. I love him and Rae together. I was really rooting for Rae to earn the respect and acceptance of her town.

Guardian’s Mate was a great romantic, adventurous read. A great addition to the Shifters Unbound series. Narration was fun and well done as usual. Such a great installment.
