The Dark Kings have fought for centuries to preserve their dragon magic. But one of the most powerful warriors of his kind will be put to the ultimate test. Is he strong enough to resist his greatest temptations? Or will he be forced to surrender - body and soul?

Her beauty is a weapon

Denae Lacroix is a beautiful MI5 agent on a deadly mission. Sent to the Scottish Highlands to spy on the mysterious Dreagan Industries, she discovers too late that she’s been set up - as human bait. She is an irresistible lure for a man who has not seen or touched a woman for centuries. He is a man with a destiny - and a desire - that could destroy them both...

His passion is a curse...

It’s been twelve hundred years since Kellan has walked among humans - and there’s no denying the erotically charged attraction he feels for Denae. But as a Dragon King, he is sworn to protect his secrets. Yet the closer he gets to this smart, ravishing woman, the more her life is in danger. All it takes is one reckless kiss to unleash a flood of desire, the fury of dragons…and the fiercest enemy of all.

The first few novellas in this series have really pulled me in and I was excited to get to Kellan’s story. We don’t meet him in the novellas and it is always fun to see a person’s reaction to new advances in the world while they are tucked away. I didn’t get all of the response I wanted to in that situation thanks to Con and his little “updates” to the sleeping Dragon Kings.

Kellan has been in his mountain for centuries hiding from his hate for humans, but a couple of humans wake him in his mountain and he is kind of cranky when he first wakes up. Kind of reminds me of me! Denae and her co-worker’s dispute in his mountain shows Kellan qualities of Denae that really impress him despite his contempt for the human race.

Denae is spunky, independent and stubborn. It was tough making it in a world of men, but she was doing it. She put her all into her job, and her current situation sits pretty badly with her. It rankles, but she pushes it aside and accepts the Dragon Kings help, doing what she can to keep herself alive.

Denae surprises us as well as herself with the strength she has. I have to say there was a scene that I was really uncomfortable with. Normally I am good with torture, but everyone has a line and this scene walked it with me. Kellan is hard and does his best to resist this human, but just when he realizes there is more there, he has to put up a wall to protect her. Will it be enough to save her? I was on the edge of my seat with that one!

One thing that kind of threw me was references of a war that the Dragon Kings fought with the Warriors and it sounded to me like it happened between the novellas and this book. I will probably have to read the Warrior’s books to find out, but when it came to the Warriors I felt like I was missing something.

I feel like there is a good balance between the ongoing storyline with the dragon’s and the progression of Denae & Kellan’s relationship. That is how I like my PNR, and I was not disappointed.
