April has been a pretty wet month. It’s normally our big storm season and I’ll be glad to see it go. Mayline, one of my pug grumble, is extremely anxious and she has a hard time with thunder. She refuses to eat, trembles terribly and paces. Not to mention does her business inside because she’s too scared to go out in the rain! I feel terrible for her and try to hold her through it, but she feels the need to pace. Sometimes if we are in bed she’ll let me hold her, but I’m usually up all night consoling her. I’ve tried a lot of things to calm her down, but she’s pretty bad during a storm and nothing works.

We had some birthdays in April. I feel terrible because I didn’t get any pictures! It was my daughter’s 26th birthday on the 24th and I didn’t even get a picture of the cake. I am so forgetful!

I’ve been having some health issues that have put a bit of a damper on my exercise goals. I’m getting tests done in May and hopefully that will figure out what is wrong. I’ll feel better exercising knowing what is going on. I am still stuck at a certain weight that I haven’t been able to break. I have to get back to tracking my food. It is the one factor I see as being what is keeping me stuck. I have to say, at least I haven’t gone up! I’ve also cheated twice this month and had pizza. My husband and daughter did not help. Their insistence that a cheat once a year is not going to kill me kind of helped make my decision. But man, it was SO good. It was everything I imagined, even though I couldn’t eat much of it. I think my body is used to smaller portions now.

I am still on my goal to catch up on series I’ve gotten off track on. I did finish up the Stephanie Plum series and the Immortals After Dark series. I’m moving on to the Black Dagger Legacy books now. I only read book one of that series and did not fall in love with it like I did the main BDB series, so I let it slip. I am going to listen to it as it seems I spend more time listening than with my Kindle so I’m getting through the books faster. I’m happy because I needed to use up some of my Audible credits before my account came off of pause the end of May and I’ve managed to get them down there. I haven’t picked many audio review books lately, but now that I’m in a good place with my credits I may pick up more.

I have been contemplating adding another con to my list, but I’m not really up for adding the cost to my budget and I really don’t want to take away any of the ones I’ve planned for as I have certain authors I want to see at these ones. If I went to Book Bonanza, I think it would be mainly to see other book bloggers as I’m not familiar with most of the authors attending. It’s a tough choice!

Let’s look at what I spent in April.

Category Amount Spent this Month Remaining Balance
B&N Membership Renewal $5.00 $0.00 $5.00
Readers & ‘Ritas 2019 Event Ticket $231.62 $0.00 $231.62
Buns & Roses + Bear $75.00 $0.00 $75.00
Boas & Tiaras $50.00 $0.00 $50.00
Audible Subscription $268.18 $0.00 $268.18
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) $253.71 $24.41 $229.30
Total: $883.51 $24.41 $859.10

As I anticipated, I did buy The Savior in ebook. Review to come on that. I also needed to get the next book club read as the library did not have it. It had almost every other Eileen Wilks book but the one I needed. Always happens to me. There are only two review books in this haul and most of them, with the exception of my two purchases are from my Audible credits.

This is what I hauled in April.

I discovered I really enjoy Robert Petkoff’s narrations so he has definitely made my list of favorite narrators. Next up is Jim Frangione. I’m really attacking these male narrators! I’m really hoping Frangione will do a great job with the Black Dagger Legacy books. I’ve heard he’s really good. *Fingers crossed*

So that has been my April. How was yours? I know there was a lot of bad weather everywhere through the month. Did you get hit hard? Did you get any good books this month?
