I don’t know where April went. I feel like I was just writing March’s update! Work has been crazy nuts and I feel like I’m not getting much time to get around to the other blogs. I see a lot of great posts popping up in my feed but haven’t had any time to pull them up and read them. A lot of work went into this month’s posts that I did get done, and I started playing with Buffer. I hope I didn’t flood you guys with too many social media posts about blog posts. It was a bit of an experiment. Instagram is one of the social media platforms I am trying to get the blog out to, and I suck at taking pictures, so I’ve been working at just putting things together to say what type of post it is and the book info. I haven’t done stats for this month yet, so I’m not sure exactly how well that went for me. Unfortunately another of my favorite blogs has said goodbye. I saw Rabid Read’s farewell post on Sunday and felt pretty sad. It has gotten me to thinking about how much book blogs are actually being read anymore. I know myself, I struggle to keep up. Oh a really horrible thought just flitted through my head. Maybe I’m getting to old to keep it all running! I really love my blog, the relationships with the authors, publishers and tour groups. I don’t want our book blogs to fade away, so I think I better do my part and start making visiting and connecting with other bloggers a priority. I set myself with a small daily goal each day of blogs I’m going to visit and share. I’m just not getting there and more effort needs to be put towards it. That will be my goal for May.
The weather has gotten much nicer here in Texas lately. Maybe a weekly shower, but the temps have started their climb. We are in a new house this year and thought about doing some landscaping outside, but my trip to Lowes last weekend failed miserably and I beat feet getting out of that crowded mess. It was like Black Friday in April. My husband is all about getting the yard looking nice, but I’m not an outside person, so I feel like if the lawn is mowed and there are no weeds, we should be good. I was thinking though. Across the street, we see the man of the house sitting on the porch while the woman slaves over the flowers out front. That makes me feel a little bad about leaving it all up to hubby to do. I don’t know how I would fit it in though, between the blog, my store and work, weekends fly by so fast and I feel like I accomplish nothing.
My house has felt like a mini pet hospital for awhile now. Each of our five pugs on some kind of medication, supplement or special food. I had to make a chart for everyone to make sure they were getting their meds as needed. I have one little girl who is mostly blind and has to have eye rinses and multiple kinds of drops used multiple times a day and it’s been crazy. She’s mad at me right now because I just put more lubricant in her eye. She’s such a sweet baby though!
I have just about finished with Dannika Dark’s books and I’m on the prowl for another good listen. Do any of you have any recommendations for some great audiobooks? I’m torn on what to start. I have some beginnings of long series, but I’m kind of nervous to start them as I know I’ll be listening to one series forever. I have been thinking of giving Eve Langlais another try. I think maybe one of her other series may be more for me. I’ll see what you all have to say!
Now for the tale of the tape, the numbers that show whether April was a good or bad spending month.
|Category||Amount||Spent this Month||Remaining Balance|
|B&N Membership Renewal||$25.00||$0.00||$0.00|
|Buns & Roses + Bear||$75.00||$0.00||$75.00|
|Literary Love Savannah||$225.00||$0.00||$2.46|
|Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers)||$313.15||$16.23||$296.92|
EEK! I’m below $600 and it isn’t even halfway through the year yet!
These are the new additions to Rantings of a Reading Addict this month.
I did do a book haul on my Instagram story. I only did 2 parts because it ended up being a LONG video. Probably could have done Youtube, but I’m not ready for that. I may post them again as I didn’t get to highlight them and I think they are gone now. I’ve been trying to use the stories more even though I feel like I don’t get as much participation. Apparently they are supposed to be good for views, so I guess I’ll give it a try.
How was your April? Did it go by like a speeding train? I don’t want spring to end. Spring and fall are my favorite seasons here. Let me know what you’ve been up to!
