Bookish Life Budget ~ September 2018 Update

September. Wow. What the hell happened to 2018? It’s time to start Christmas shopping. This time of year holds a lot of birthdays and anniversaries. September had our father’s birthdays as well as my parents anniversary. We didn’t really get to celebrate my parent’s anniversary as we were holding a baby shower for my brother and his wife. They are expecting a baby boy on December 25. It’s an exciting time for them.

So September’s budget has taken a huge blow. I decided to go to Readers ‘n Ritas plus there was a virtual signing. I couldn’t remember if I normally included the cost as soon as I paid it or when the book was actually received. Since it came out of my account this month, I included it. It is looking like this year is going to be a big budget disappointment. I’m moving my Buns and Roses budget to the Readers ‘n Ritas to try and cover some of the cost. Below is me falling off my budget.

Category Amount Spent this Month Remaining Balance
B&N Membership Renewal $25.00 $0.00 $0.00
Buns & Roses + Bear $0.00 $0.00 $0.00
Literary Love Savannah $225.00 $0.00 $2.46
Readers & ‘Ritas $75.00 $204.97 -$129.97
Audible Subscription $101.20 $24.38 $76.28
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) $0.34 $38.67 -$94.62
Total: $123.21 $268.02 -$144.81

Going into the negative is definitely disappointing. The problem is, I’m pretty sure that deficit is going to get larger before the end of the year. I know I’ll likely buy books at RnR. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it under control though.

I had accumulated too many Audible credits and needed to use up a bunch so my haul this month is a little bit larger. I got the rest of the Pride series and the Innkeeper series. So they are all set to listen to when I finally catch up on my audio TBR list. I also picked up one of the Stephanie Plum books that I haven’t read as it was on sale. Despite my dwindling passion for the series, I am still driven to continue the series. I just haven’t gotten caught up yet.

That was the month at Rantings of a Reading Addict. Hopefully, I can keep my book buying in check in October with the anticipation of what I will be confronted with in November.

OH for those of you who remember me mentioning that my father was going through health issues, I wanted to let you all know he is now in full remission! Thank you all for those thoughts and prayers during this trying time for us all!

Did you all have a good September? Kids all back to school and schedules getting back into routine, have you been able to get any reading done? I’m finding my ebook reading slow, but I’m tearing through the audios. I’m still a bit ahead in my GR challenge and I think I’m on track for my audiobook challenge. Only a few months left!
