The New Year is here. Happy 2019 everyone! I’ve decided not to do a December wrap up for my Bookish Life Budget, but instead just do my final for the year. It was disappointing but fun in a way. I gave up some events in exchange for others and tried moving money around to make things work. Unfortunately, I still went in the hole this year. This has made me make some disappointing decisions for next year. I truly wanted to go to Book Lovers Con in May. It is an expensive con, and I just don’t think I’m going to be able to give myself that much leeway in 2019’s budget. Below is the final of numbers of my budget for 2018.
Category | Amount | Spent this Year | Remaining Balance |
---|---|---|---|
B&N Membership Renewal | $25.00 | $25.00 | $0.00 |
Buns & Roses + Bear | $75.00 | $0.00 | $75.00 |
Boas & Tiaras | $50.00 | $0.00 | $50.00 |
Literary Love Savannah | $0.00 | $222.54 | $-222.54 |
Readers & ‘Ritas | $175.90 | $204.97 | -$29.97 |
Audible Subscription | $298.08 | $292.56 | $5.52 |
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) | $376.92 | $560.42 | -$183.50 |
Total: | $1000.90 | $1305.49 | -$304.59 |
Because of the deficit this year, I’m really going to have to put some thought into the budget for 2019. I want to do the local cons if their author line ups look interesting. I’m also going to try and do as little money moving as possible. This year I really need to buckle down and keep control of what I’m spending. I’ve got plenty of review books to keep me occupied so I shouldn’t have to spend a lot on books. It will be my addiction to paper copies that I will need to get a grip on.
Did you find that 2018 was an expensive bookish year for you? What kinds of things do you do to control your book buying? The library is a good one. I need to use that resource more often.
I hope everyone has a wonderful 2019 with tons of good books and a year of good health and fortune. Happy New Year everyone!
