From #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole comes The Professional—the second scorching installment in her Game Maker series, an erotica collection that has readers asking: How hot is too hot?
He makes the rules...
Mafiya enforcer Aleksandr "The Siberian" Sevastyan’s loyalty to his boss is unwavering, until he meets the boss’s long-lost daughter, a curvy, tantalizing redhead who haunts his mind and heats his blood like no other. Ordered to protect her, Sevastyan will do anything to possess her as well—on his own wicked terms.Rules are made to be broken...
PhD student Natalie Porter had barely recovered from her first sight of the breathtakingly gorgeous Sevastyan before the professional hit man whisks her away to Russia, thrusting her into a world of extreme wealth and wanton pleasures. With every day she spends under his protection, she falls deeper under his masterful spell. Are you ready to play?
Yet all is not as it seems. To remove Natalie from an enemy’s reach, Sevastyan spirits her into hiding. From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-wealthy in Paris, the two lovers will discover that even their darkest—and most forbidden—fantasies can come true...
There was a big time gap for me between The Professional: Part 1 and this part because of some downloading issues I was having. I did remember how 1 left off and it was kind of a teaser.
Part 2 picks up exactly where one leaves off, which makes sense since this is actually a serial not a separate book. This part has Natalie and Sevastyan running after a major showdown and was really kind of sad. I am not going to give away details, but I was not happy with some events. Most of the book is the two of them on the road. Sevastyan at one point sees some of the results of their sex play and is determined to fight the urges he has to continue with his preferences. Very frustrating for Natalie and they come to blows over it often.
I did not find a good connection with Natalie. She has not been in this world very long but already acts like everything should be the way she wants it when she wants it. I found that kind of immature of her and it bothered me. She was very demanding. Sevastyan is pretty much what I like in a hero, the broody, secretive man with a past he is trying to overcome.
The sex, for the most part was mainly a struggle between the two of them. Sevastyan fighting his urges and Natalie trying to make him give in to them. I thought this part was a lot of filler, but got engaged again by the end. I was definitely ready to queue up Part 3 right away as my curious nature was intrigued. I am not a huge erotica fan, but this story kept me involved and was not overly over the top for a newbie to the genre like me. I’m not sure I would have liked to wait between these parts, so I’m glad I had 3 all set to go. I think next time I would like to have all parts ready to read instead of having that big gap in between 1 & 2.
