Before writing this, I went back and checked my January 2021 post. I did see that a year ago I was struggling with both reading and blogging. That has not changed much as you can see by my combining Oct, Nov & Dec into one update post. Also in that post I saw my starting budget. It seems allotting $1000 was just not enough for me. As you can see below, I went over by $320. I find that funny considering how much trouble I am having reading an actual book. My guess, without going back and looking at all my hauls, is that most of that was spent on shelf candy.
Physical and ebooks have been hard this year. I tend to fall asleep really early and the time between work and bed is pretty crammed. The falling asleep early is probably due to me getting up at 5am to play Animal Crossing until it is time to start work. Yes, I play for that long per day. I had my playing time down to a minimum but then they released the 2.0 of the game as well as the add-on Happy Home Paradise and my playing time has become ridiculous. For Christmas I did receive some more active games, so my plan is to incorporate a few minutes of those in per day as well.
My other obsession right now is audiobooks. I’m listening all during the work day. In fact, I got tired of my ear bud’s batteries dying half way through the day so researched to find the longest lasting ear buds I could find. I ended up adding Raycon Fitness ear buds to my wishlist so I have those babies ready to go when I get back to work. I’m excited to see how long one charge will last. Now if I could just keep up with reviews to match my listening speed!
Below is the final update of my 2021 bookish life budget. It is a three month update and the final numbers are right there, so I’m not going to do a year end post. Am I lazy? Why yes, yes I am. 🙂
|Category||Amount||Spent this Month||Remaining Balance|
|B&N Membership Renewal||$0.00||$0.00||$0.00|
|Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers)||$-181.09||$155.02||$-336.11|
My book haul for October, November and December is primarily audiobooks and of those, all but three were review audios. Which I WILL get done. I was really excited for the opportunity to review the whole Georgina Kincaid series in one big binge. That series has been on my tbr for a long time and I just hadn’t gotten around to it with all the newer releases since this came out. Those reviews will be coming. I’m conflicted about them, so we will see what comes out when it comes time to write the review.
I also caught up on the Stephanie Plum series. I know, I’ve rated the last few quite poorly but I feel like I just can’t stop. At some point, this series has to come to an end. Knowing me I will be reading them until that time comes despite my feelings toward them.
These are the goodies I brought in for the end of 2021.
That pretty much ties up 2021 for me. Oh I did get a B&N gift card which I used to preorder the signed edition of Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs as well as a deck of tarot cards. I found the coolest tarot planner. It’s the Writual 2022 Tarot Journal and I’m so excited to get started on it. I really have no idea what I’m doing, but I think going through this journal daily will teach me all I would want to know.
So how was everyone’s holiday? Get any cool and exciting things? What are you reading now and looking forward to in 2022? Let me know in the comments, I can’t wait to see what everyone is doing. Being away from blogging has really made me miss you guys!
Wishing you an amazing 2022!
