Bookish Life Budget 2021

May went by so fast. It’s been really rainy and it just feels so dreary. I have been dealing with some health issues and doing a bunch of annoying tests. I think we are on the road to finding some solutions, it just feels like it has taken forever.

I still have not adjusted to listening to audiobooks while working at my new job. So, I’ve lowered my Audible subscription down to the one credit per month. I worried that is still going to be too much. I have been getting a bit more ebook reading done. It could be because I’ve been on a string of some really good books. I’m worried about my current read as the time to read on my kindle is like, 14 hours and I’m not sure I’m into this book enough to spend that much time on it. Hopefully it will improve. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed because there are a big list of books in my favorite series to catch up on. Maybe I’ll be completely out of my reading slump. That also depends on my Animal Crossing addiction. Lately I’ve been keeping to just an hour in the morning to play, but looking at my IG has given me ideas on some renos I want to do. Unfortunately, it’s going to take more than an hour in the morning. Does anyone play Stardew Valley? My son has been after me to start. Says it is better than ACNH. I just don’t know if I can devote my time to another game. Also, I would feel like I’m cheating on Animal Crossing for some strange reason!

I’m actually surprised at my book numbers this month. My haul my not look big but they were mostly paperbacks for my shelves. This will be the last month my Audible monthly amount is this high. I really need to use some credits up, but my listening just hasn’t been enough to get me caught up on my current library. Maybe I should do a giveaway for some of my credits. I’ve already been considering doing a giveaway for some of the ARCs I have pulled from my shelves. So look for something coming up.

Category Amount Spent this Month Remaining Balance
B&N Membership Renewal $25.00 $25.00 $0.00
Audible Subscription $195.04 $24.38 $170.66
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) $248.32 $48.44 $199.88
Total: $443.36 $72.82 $370.54

My book haul this month may look like a lot of repeats. But like I said, most of these were paperbacks for my shelf. Shadowed Steel was a signed copy and I think I may have included the cost in a previous budget, but it arrived this month. Afterlife I received in both audio and paperback. I absolutely love Dannika Dark’s covers on her books, so I’m collecting the Crossbreed series. I haven’t jumped into the previous series’ books yet. Just look at all the goodies I have for my shelves. Seriously though, I am having trouble with my shelves. I packed them too tight. I put all my hard covers together in alphabetical order, then the regular size paperbacks, which I got lazy and they are in no specific order. My paperbacks came next and they are in alphabetical order. Now imagine all of them shelved in tight rows, then comes new books that need to fit in to continue to be alphabetical. I did, once move everything down to fit in a couple of books. I don’t think I’m going to do it again, so my alphabetical order thing may have just flown out the window. Anyway, here are my goodies from May!

Shadowed Steel Chloe Neill
Reckless Road Christine Feehan

This month I plan to focus more on getting some audiobook listening done. So many people can listen while they work, I don’t know why I haven’t been able to train my brain yet. It is disappointing. I also have goals to work on more blogging, read more and I have a class I’m working on. Sometimes I feel like I overload myself, but these are all things I love and have been neglecting in my struggle to adjust to my new life.

How was May for everyone else? Did you get some good books I need to add to my TBR? I’ve been checking out reviews and have added a couple. I hope everyone is staying healthly and smart!
