Bookish Life Budget ~ July 2019 Update

We’ve passed mid-year and are on the downward slide for the year. I was so happy to see that I’m ahead of schedule with my challenges. I did a thing though. I decided to buy a ticket to Readers On The River. It was not a con I budgeted for and is probably going to contribute to putting me over for the year. I couldn’t find a reader friend to travel with me so I’m dragging some of my family with me so I don’t have to travel alone. I’m hoping they find some fun things to do in Louisville. We’ll be making it a two day drive from Texas and stopping midway in Memphis. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things still up in the air about the trip and it’s stressing me out a bit. I’m kind of debating selling my ticket. I’m conflicted right now. I need to make up my mind soon though so I can get things planned.

In the interest of the budget, I may just not buy the Readers and ‘Ritas ticket for this year and just go to the signing. Last I saw, Jennifer Estep was going to be there and I’ve got a bunch of books of hers I can get signed. I’ll have to watch the author lineup and maybe see what kind of panels and other things that might be planned. I’ve still got it planned in the budget but I’ll wait a while to see if I actually get a ticket. So this is what hit my budget in July!

Category Amount Spent this Month Remaining Balance
B&N Membership Renewal $0.00 $0.00 $0.00
Readers & ‘Ritas 2019 Event Ticket $231.62 $0.00 $231.62
Buns & Roses + Bear $0.00 $0.00 $0.00
Boas & Tiaras $0.00 $0.00 $0.00
Readers On The River $0.00 $173.93 $0.00
Audible Subscription $219.42 $24.38 $195.04
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) $241.92 $42.45 $199.47
Total: $692.96 $240.76 $452.20

For books this month I did do a little spending. Amazon Prime Days had a book coupon and I used it to add to my Dannika Dark Crossbreed collection. I also found I was missing the latest Midnight Breed book so I had to get that to read before Break The Day that just released. I’ve also got a few review books thrown in this month. Unfortunately, I did spend more than I intended, but I’m not nearly as disappointed with my haul as I was last month.

So my July update is a little late. I had some post scheduling issues and I’m trying hard to stick to a 4 day week. I’ve had some good reads this month and unfortunately some disappointing ones to tell you about this month. Hopefully, I’ll get caught up on reviews in the next week or so.

So who is going to Readers On The River in Louisville this year? I’m really hoping there will be some of you going and we can all meet up. I’m not familiar with any of the people in the FB group so fingers crossed that some of you are going and we can connect. Also, for anyone from the Memphis or Louisville area, what are some fun things to do? We will only have late afternoons and evenings in Memphis so I’m figuring tours are out, but there must be some fun things we can do. If you have ideas, let me know! I need to make this a great vacation as well as fun book con for me or the rest of the family will be bored out of their mind. I’ve done this to them multiple times so I really want to make sure they have a good time.

Have a great August!
