I was lucky enough to get a fairly nice settlement from Amazon, but I haven’t added it to the budget. It might be hard for me to tell if what I bought with the settlement was books or something else. I will add the books to my book haul, but will not deduct the price of them from the monthly budget. I’m actually really torn on whether I should use the settlement to get myself a Kindle. I’m finding that the light from my Fire and the weight of it are getting uncomfortable. I would really miss the colored book covers though. At home, the only thing I use my Fire for is reading, but I do take it to work to use my Spotify app. So conflicted. If I did decide to go with a Kindle, what would your recommendation be?

So now we move on to the book haul portion of our monthly update. I enforced some restrictions on my Netgalley requests as well as some of the other review requests I got. Three of these I actually used Audible credits for and I indulged in a virtual signing by Lara Adrian. I bought one of the sets, but thinking on it later I think I already have the book I bought in the set. Only thing that could mean would be GIVEAWAY right?

I’m really excited about the haul this month as I got some great audiobooks. It is going to take me a bit to get caught up in those series so I can listen to these, but I at least have them ready for download. I used a couple of credits this month to introduce a friend of mine to audiobooks and picked a couple of my favorites for her to try out. I really hopes she likes them!

So that was July for me. I did get more reading done than usual because, well, it’s too damn hot outside! The pug rescue I foster for shut down a breeder that had some pretty horrible living conditions so I took in one. It is amazing to see these dogs flourish in this new environment, but it makes me sad and angry knowing what she came from. Hopefully soon I will have her more comfortable with humans. Having all the other pugs around really helped her I think.

I hope you all are staying cool and enjoying your summer! Are you doing something fun? Don’t forget to drop me any recommendations or opinions on getting a Kindle!
