Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post hosted on Rainy Day Ramblings where we discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.
This week’s question asks us who our favorite male audiobook narrators are.
So I did a little prowling around Audible.com, as that is where most of my audiobooks come from, with the exception of the library. I was saddened to discover, there were very, very few male narrators in my list of read audiobooks. It was ridiculous. Obviously I need to experience the male narrator a little more. They are so few and far between that I can’t even remember for sure how I felt about them. I don’t remember being totally blown away by them, but that could be more because I am so used to a woman narrator that the difference just felt off to me. However, I did find a couple that stood out to me.
- Robert Petkoff: I did Professional Narration with Dark Skye by Kresley Cole and that was my introduction to Robert Petkoff. If I wasn’t SO into this book, I probably would have listened to the whole thing. His voice was great for this book and I really enjoyed it.
- Fred Berman: I listened to Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon narrated by Fred Berman. Wow. His voice really portrayed the tortured character. One of my favorites!
So, wasn’t that a long list! My experience with male narrators is definitely limited. I think that is why I’m so skittish about picking up one. I will have to specifically seek out some male narrated books. I kind of feel ashamed of myself for the length of that list!
These two narrators are ones I’ve heard great reviews from other bloggers for, so have trusted in their opinions. Do you have some good suggestions for me to try out?
