Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post hosted on Rainy Day Ramblings where we discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.
Do you still take review requests? Why/Why Not?
I still take requests. I’m pretty picky about the ones I actually accept though. My thoughts are that my review request page is too broad. I get a lot of requests for books that are contemporary. And don’t get me wrong, there are some contemporary that really interest me. That is probably why I have left the page so broad. I like to read the blurbs when the request comes in and make the decision on whether or not it is something that fits with the blog. I like to have options.
That being said, sometimes I think I have too many options. I do get a lot of requests for books I’m not particularly interested in so it is a lot to go through. Also, I am terrible at replying back letting the author/publicist/tour host that I do not plan on accepting the request. I really need to put something together so they just don’t get ignored in my inbox. I keep them, like I have all the best intentions, but then they just fill up my mail box.
How about you? Do you still accept requests? How do you refuse the request?
