It was another month of low purchases. It wasn’t even a necessity, just a book to add to my collection. I am afraid said collection has gotten out of control. I’ve run out of bookshelf room and things are starting to pile up. I thought of the greatest solution for this. My tall cases are from Target and they leave SO much room at the bottom section. They only give you one shelf down there. What I thought I would do was buy one more case and just use the shelves out of it. It seems like a waste, but I’m sure we could find something to do with the rest of the pieces. What I did not do was pay attention to the measurements I took of my current shelves. I got to Target and they all looked like what I had so I just grabbed one. Not the greatest decision. The shelves of the one I bought were too long, and leave quite a bit of space at the back. Out came hubby with the saw, so I still have new shelves, but it could have been so much easier! Now comes the task of arranging these books. I’ve got them piled and keep staring at them every time I walk through the room. It will probably take me a week to figure out how to organize them.
Right now, my social media feeds are filled with loads of fun looking pictures from NOLA Story Con. They have made me rethink my strategy of staying home this year. There is a con coming up close by, but I’m not as interested in that one and don’t think it’s worth the money. However, I can research the cons going on next year and maybe plan for those. Besides, I will likely need to save up and find travelling buddies. If anyone knows anything about the cons going on next year, please drop me a note so I can research. I think I’ve had too much time away from the con world!
I did make one exception this year for cons and that was the Supernatural convention when it came to town. Not book related, but a must attend. Unfortunately Jared made me laugh just as the stupid photographer took the picture so now I have this awful, and expensive, picture. However, they do give awesome hugs and that will be something to remember forever!
This month has been true pug chaos. One of our fosters was returned after we already took in another so we are overrun. We have two big problems. The fosters are not house trained, and there is one who wants to party at 3:30am. We’re trying to narrow down the party animal by separating the fosters, but I’m beginning to think it is one of my own, and we may have to come up with new sleeping arrangements for her. I’m really tired of getting up so early. This is 4 of the 5 waiting for my husband to get moving! At 4am! He just gives up and gets up with them.
So with all the craziness, my book haul for the month was a little piece of joy in it all. Here are some of the goodies that were gathered this month.
How was your month? Did fall get started right for you?
