Book trailers… do you watch them? Do they convince you to read a book?
Book trailers? I know I’ve seen a couple of them by my favorite author. I then subscribe to them on YouTube, then never see anything by them again. It has been so long since I’ve seen one that I didn’t know authors were still doing them.
I actually really enjoyed the trailers I did see. However, because they were books I was looking forward to anyway, I can’t say they made me more likely to read that book.
Now that I think about it though, I think I would really enjoy seeing trailers in reviews and memes such as Waiting on Wednesday posts. Putting together a trailer takes a lot of thought and work. That sort of thing says the author really puts a lot of themselves into their books. If they put that much time and effort into a trailer, I’m inclined to think that the book is worth reading.
Book trailers also generate a lot of curiosity and excitement for me about a book. Getting those little snippets of the book is like a visual blurb you read on the back of the book. I think if I was just learning about a book for the first time through a trailer, I might be more inclined to read it.
I would like to see more book trailers. I am off to search YouTube to see what I can find. Would you like to see more book trailers? What do you think of an author creating one?
