June 2018 Bookish Life Budget

May I just say, WTF happened to June?? How did it fly by without me realizing what was happening? Last week was long, but I think that was because I was anticipating a few days off and that always drags things out.

I’m still working the Keto diet and still struggling a bit. I’ve heard that I’m supposed to get less cravings but my craving for chocolate is a beast! I found a great recipe for some Keto friendly cookies and finally took some time to make them. I’m learning that a lot of meal planning and prep needs to go into my meals, and even that is sometimes hard because the ingredients are not ones I normally buy in my groceries. There are a lot of great recipes out there on Pinterest, so I’ve fallen down that rabbit hole many times over this journey. Another issue I have found is that I am incredibly tired. I have been advised that it may be because my electrolytes are low so now I’m taking a supplement trying to see if I can get some energy back.

My family has gotten some pretty awful news this month, which is going to make July a very hectic and emotional month. I’m really hoping we all have the strength to deal with what needs to be done in the coming month. Health issues are tough and unpredictable. I’ll take whatever good thoughts and prayers can be sent for my family.

On a happier note, July is Literary Lovers Savannah month! You’ll catch me in Savannah, Georgia for the last week in July. These are mostly new to me authors but this con has a lot of opportunity for interaction as well as some fun stuff like the tattoo I’m planning on getting as well as a tarot card reading. So excited! This is going to be different than any con I’ve been to before. Once this con is over, it will be full savings mode for Book Lovers Con in New Orleans next year. I plan on getting there come hell or high water! I’m scared it’s going to be the chaos of RT but this will be the closest opportunity to see J.R. Ward and I’m not going to miss that!

I did spend a bit this month on books

Category Amount Spent this Month Remaining Balance
B&N Membership Renewal $25.00 $0.00 $0.00
Buns & Roses + Bear $75.00 $0.00 $75.00
Literary Love Savannah $225.00 $0.00 $2.46
Audible Subscription $174.34 $24.38 $149.96
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) $296.92 $33.29 $263.63
Total: $548.72 $57.17 $491.55

I feel like funds are getting kind of low. I’ve also decided not to attend Buns & Roses this year. I’m going to miss getting the bear, but I’ve got a friend who may be able to smuggle me one if I send the funds. Fingers crossed. I love the stuffed bears they have at each event.

I am kind of disappointed at my book haul. It shows that my Excel sheet of books in my physical library has not been updated as I purchased a book I already had. Also, keep in mind, most of the physical books I buy are mainly for my shelves. It’s not very often that I read one of the paper copies. I’m too scared I will ruin it, or crack the spine or something. Safer to let the beauties stay on the shelves and use my kindle to read and snack at the same time. Not that I get to snack much on this Keto diet. But that has always been my reasoning. I will probably do another IG story opening up my packages from June, so keep an eye on my account for that. This is the book haul for June:

How The White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back

So some of that was a mix of hard covers, paperbacks, audios and review books. I have been waiting for Book Outlet to get the Diana Rowland books forever and as soon as I got the notification that one was there, I snatched it up! Of course, I had to make the shipping worth it by getting the Janet Evanovich I was missing as well as that Faith Hunter! The Sherrilyn Kenyon are the audio review books I got and I’m so glad I got them in this format. It is different for me listening to a male narrator and I think he is doing an amazing job with the old pirate accents. So much fun!

Let’s see if I can make a book haul IG story without my dog being a PITA this month. He never leaves me alone long enough to record and is constantly taking off with the wrapping. He is a stubborn fool. I hope you all watch. I will try to get the stories into my highlights. I haven’t figured out how to get my Etsy store stories into a Highlights yet. The button doesn’t appear to be there for me. There are so many differences between my two accounts that I get frustrated. I did put some new keychains and am doing some cute shirts this week, so be sure to check those out! I think I need to get a link in my sidebar. I keep forgetting to do that.

Anyhow, enough rambling. How was June for you guys? Any good books? Are you enjoying the summer heat? It’s been in the 100’s with the heat index and is killing me. Hubby is building us a patio and I don’t know how he works outside all week, then comes home and works out there all weekend. It has to be draining!

Happy July 4th everyone! Enjoy all the events and fireworks! It will be hard being in the middle of the week like it is, but I’m sure there will lots of opportunities to attend and see some great fireworks!
