So, we are into our first update of 2017! It has taken me a little while to get all my numbers straight and organize just what I’m going to do. In the midst of that, I have found time to do some spending already!
It may seem as if I’ve allowed quite a bit for books this year. I did take the leftover from last year and applied it to that category. I’ve already purchased a ticket to one con, and I’m hoping this year I will get at least one other in. What happens to me at these events is that I spend money. I know, this is the perfect opportunity to show off my restraint. I probably should. I will be more selective for sure. I will be keeping the budget in mind, but I don’t want to feel like I’m missing any of the fun either. Especially when it comes to signed books (my favorite by the way!) Another point of having such a big book budget is that feeling of achievement when I have a shit ton of money left over at the end of the year. At least that is my hope. I’m kind of worried about it considering the amount of money I spent on books just this month. It was the Book Outlet New Year’s sale, honest. It won’t (likely) happen again. I think I’ve pretty much cleaned out everything I want from there as well as my local recycled book store. That should keep me from buying too much! January does look big besides the books because I did buy that ticket to NOLA Story Con. It’s a long ways away, but I have the ticket and now I feel like I will be doing something sociable this year. So here is January in a nut shell. Hopefully we won’t have many repeats of this amount of spending!

Due to that crazy Book Outlet sale, my haul is going to seem pretty outrageous. Some I have already read and I just bought the physical to have on my shelves. Others are on my TBR. Crazy thing is, I will have the physical for my TBR, but will likely read them on my kindle and save the physical to get signed when I go to a signing. Common sense says this is a waste. Tanya’s brain says “load that library” despite the lack of room in it now. My daughter says I have an addictive personality. Just like those crazy Lula Roe leggings I can’t seem to stay away from. A whole closet full of their clothing, nothing matches, but I have to have it. I wonder if they have groups for people addicted to filling book shelves or buying Lula Roe? Back to issue at hand. Below is my haul for January. I don’t really differentiate between ebooks, review books and physical. I haven’t really figured out a nice way of doing it. If you have a suggestion, I’d be glad to hear it! This is it, so here’s to a better February (despite it being my birthday month!)
