Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post hosted on Rainy Day Ramblings where we discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.
What types of posts do you enjoy most on blogs?
You would think, being in the book blogging world, I would enjoy the reviews more. But honestly my favorites are discussion posts. I love it when a blogger will discuss an aspect of our reading lives and really get the community participating. It tells me a lot about a blogger, and I like to know more about that person behind the words. About pages are there, but sometimes they are very formal and don’t really give you the feel of who the person is. Memes like Tell Me Something Tuesday, bring us out and we can relate a little bit with our readership.
Along the same note, I do enjoy the occasional off topic post that has nothing to do with reading. For instance a tip post or even a post about something interesting that happened to a blogger.
(To combine these two types of posts, yes, I will be scouring for everyone’s BEA posts this week.)
Oh I can’t forget wrap-ups. I really enjoy seeing what everyone did during the week and what goodies they received. It’s kind of like Christmas when everyone gathers around to show what they received. Those are a lot of fun.
I do enjoy reviews. For some reason I’m more interested in reviews of the books I’ve already read or am currently reading. I probably shouldn’t read some in case of spoilers, but I love being able to relate and comment on what I think about that book. The reviews for books that are new to me, I always check the genre first, then look to see how far into the series the review is for. If a book got a great rating and is like book 3 or 4 into a series, then I definitely want to learn more. This has become especially hard on my TBR.
I know it pretty much sounds like I enjoy all types of posts, but I think I’ve got them in the order that I enjoy them. You would think, being a blogger myself that writes reviews, and just a few memes, I would see how I could improve. I hope that the memes like TMST help get myself out there and help people know me a bit more. I do need to produce more everyday posts.
