Book Blogger New Years Challenge Day 1
Blogger Resolutions
I really need to get my act together and do this one. I need to set some goals and stick to them. My blog has been very inconsistent and I struggle everyday with “should I read or finish that blog post”. Then if I chose blog post, my creative juices just would not flow. So here, in the colors of my blog, I will list out the resolutions I will have for my blog in 2014.
- Review the book within the first week of finishing. Too often I leave the review too long and forget about how exactly that particular book made me feel. A week is long enough to let the story sink in, but not too long that I will forget.
- Visit my favorite blogs more and leave comments with links back to me. I have been relying on Facebook notifications that a post has been made to a blog, and have come to find out I’ve missed several posts. Even if I have notifications for that blog turned on. I need to go back to my Bloglovin screen and read from there.
- I am going to write how I feel and how I normally would talk without worrying about what my readers are thinking about me as a person. I swear, a lot, and I’ve always racked my brain trying to find ways to word things in ways that I wouldn’t normally say them. I don’t want to be fake for my readers. I want them to know me and like my blog because of me, not because they think I’m this vanilla posting chick. It’s not me, so people may see changes this year!
- I want to get back to a couple of meme’s. I’ve completely let Waiting on Wednesday go and I’ve only done Sunday Post sporadically. What I’d really like to see is a meme generating posts on the blogger’s personality, with the personal questions coming out the week before so we have time to work on it. I thought Follow Friday was the one I was looking for, but I ended up following a lot of blogs I wouldn’t normally put in my list and now my Bloglovin is out of control. Which brings me to my next item…
- I will sort through my Bloglovin blogs and eliminate inactive or blogs that just don’t fit my personality and I don’t read. I guess that kind of goes along with #2 doesn’t it?
- I want at least 2 reviews a week posted. I figure as long as I’m doing a meme or two that should cover most of the week for me.
- Work at least 3 hours a week on the blog. Whether that be cleaning up old posts, cleaning up sidebars and links, or just writing my posts. That is a minimum. If I don’t set a minimum, all will get lost and nothing will get accomplished.
- My blog’s Facebook page definitely needs to be put to better use. I need to get more posts out there, especially since only about half of them make it to all your followers. More posts included actually me asking questions to be more interactive as well as just updates on the blog. I’ve been bad about just sharing stuff to the page and not really putting it to it’s best use.
- Besides Facebook, I want to put the other social media sites to good use as well. I’m trying to figure out Google+, but somehow I’ve ended up with a blog page and a personal page and all my blogger friends and pages are on my personal. And how do you decide what circle to put them in? And how do you get rid of all the Google nonsense that ends up in my feed? These are questions I will be figuring out this year!
- Hopefully putting a good social media plan in place will help me build my Bloglovin followers. I’m sitting at 70 now, so I will consider it a huge milestone if I hit 250. I might even host a giveaway for that!
- This one may be personal, but oh well. I need to find out how people keep up with Twitter. I follow people, but I only see about posts from half of them and the rest are from out of nowhere. Then a lot of people have their Facebooks and Twitters connected and I’m not seeing whole conversations because despite a conversation being started on Twitter comments are made on the Facebook post and I don’t see them when I look in Twitter. Oh mass confusion, my poor brain can’t take it!
- I want to become more familiar with Photoshop so I can do a better job of my images on my blog
- I want to shed my shyness when it comes to communicating with authors and publishing houses. I want to establish some good connections.
- Oh! I also want to make more blogger friends, that I comment and talk to with more often.
Wow, that list got longer than I thought. Whoops, just added two more. This was a very good idea. Now I have something to come back to and check off.
