So here is my last update for 2016! I will do a yearly wrap-up as well. I have to go back and see what my goals were for the beginning of the year. I just kept buying and trying to keep track every month without watching my original goal. Let’s see what I did this month!

December 2016 Bookish Life Budget

It is the end of the year! I’m excited to see my totals for the year!

December will tell the tale of the year. I am left with $408.19 this year! While I really am happy with how much I was able to save, I’m also disappointed that I didn’t get to the cons. I missed a lot of socialization this year. Seeing how close the budget was, I’m scared to keep the numbers the same for 2017 as I really need to get out. I will keep the admission tickets in my budget, but I will have to figure out if I am going to increase the total to spend, or reduce the book buying. I think the numbers on the book buying were pretty good and I could probably do better next year as I’ve pretty much used up all my space. My husband has threatened to move my whole collection into the spare room because I’ve sort of taken over the office. I think it is only fair that I have the office, since the garage has been totally taken over by him. At least you can walk in the office. I get caught on workout equipment when I try to walk through the garage!

This month was a pretty lean book haul. They were books that actually came from my book budget.

There is actually some explaining I need to do for this haul. First, I purchased the Kindle version of Blood Vow. I participated in the Virtual Signing so I did have to get the physical version, but I’m more likely to read the Kindle. I don’t want to mess up the pages or anything of the signed version.

I purchased the hard copy of Turbo Twenty-three, not because I’m excited to read it, but to have it for the collection on my shelf. This series has gone down hill for me and it is just not at the top of my list.

I received an Echo for Christmas and I am trying to figure it out. I was kind of disappointed in the book as it really didn’t help me figure out all the things that Alexa could do for me. The book was like 3/4 of different commands, which I wasn’t interested in at all, so I wouldn’t really rate this book very high. I did learn that Alexa can work with the Philips Hue lights we bought for our living room lights as they are the last lights turned out on the way to bed. The trick we were told would to work with the lights was to use IFTTT to control them. We really got ourselves in a mess. IFTTT told us how to make the Hue lights go into “Party Mode” where the lights turned all different colors, but it did not tell us how to stop it. So Christmas day was spent in a living room with pink, blue, green and other colors, while I tried desperately to find a way to make it stop. Needless to say, we now never use the word “Party” around Alexa! I got a good laugh from the news last night where a little girl was playing with their Dot and ordered an $170.00 doll house and a huge tin of cookies. By the time the mother got the notice that they shipped, it was too late to cancel. I’ve figured out how to add to my list, but I haven’t dared to actually order from her yet.

So the holidays were pretty interesting with these fun electronic gifts. We still have a special doorbell that we can’t get hooked up yet and need to do a return for. It’s kind of a pain in the butt because now we have to put the old one back on. I also don’t have record of what the support guy said for return instructions.

How was everyone else’s holidays? I’m anxious to here how some of you celebrated and any goodies (books haha) that you may have gotten! Did you have crazy, wacky stories of your holidays? Watch for my total year-end Budget post. I’m still playing with numbers, so my post may be a little late. (As if this wasn’t.) I have some fun stories also about my pug rescue foster stories, but I’ll save that for next time.

Don’t forget to comment! I can’t wait to hear your stories!
