Waiting on Wednesday is a feature hosted by Breaking The Spine. This is my anticipated book of the week!

I’m not your average girl.

My best friend is my switchblade. My favorite hobby is using it on the cruel, the abusive, and anyone who gets on my bad side. I’m a convicted murderer with a chip on my shoulder and a dangerous lack of restraint.

And then there’s Zak.

His rap sheet makes mine look tame. The bounty on his head is worth more money than I’ll ever make, and the deadly fae that shadow his every step wield more power than I’ll ever know.

He’s the Crystal Druid, and his first mistake was setting foot on my turf.

His second was saving my life.

And his final mistake will be failing to realize that however dark, however ruthless, however broken he is…

I’m worse.

Yes! It’s Zak! I have been dying to see more of him since The Guild Codex: Spellbound. He fascinated me, plus I think I felt a little bad about how his part in that series went. I probably shouldn’t have, but damn, he was a good character.

I am also so curious to see who this other character is. I just can’t wait! The One and Only Crystal Druid releases September 24, 2021 with the audiobook releasing October 12, 2021. I love the narrator so I will likely wait for the audiobook release. Don’t worry about not reading the other Guild Codex books. I think this one will probably introduce Zak all over again. Of course, you may not be as in love with him as I am without reading Spellbound, but these spin offs Marie has been writing have carryover, but not an amount that would make you feel like you missed something.

Go forth! Fall in love with Zak!

About Annette Marie

Annette Marie is the author of YA urban fantasy series Steel & Stone, its prequel trilogy Spell Weaver, and romantic fantasy trilogy Red Winter. Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced urban fantasy, bold heroines, and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She proudly admits she has a thing for dragons, and her editor has politely inquired as to whether she intends to include them in every single book.

Annette lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it’s not quite that bad). She shares her life with her remarkably patient, comparatively sensible husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat—Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
