This was the first American Horror Story I have seen. I jumped on this one mainly because of the witches. You know me and my paranormal. I quickly became obsessed with this show. I hardly ever jump in on Twitter for things, but I was all OVER this shit. For those who haven’t seen this series, but plan to in the future, I suggest you stop now because my ranting is going to include some major spoilers. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
This is the story of young witches making their way to their coven and then to find out who is the Supreme of them all. We see some pretty freaky shit in this series. Death is not something to be considered final. People are brought back in various ways, be it ghosts (I think that is what you could call them) or good as new. Then there are those that just don’t seem to die. Cut off their heads and they still keep on flapping their gums. In the finale, we see death again, but these are final deaths. Final deaths of people that had been dead before. We see the recipients of the “final” death all seem to get stuck in hell, where they live in their own personal versions of it. With most of the death’s, we see snapshots of the person immersed in their hell, but we do not see Madison after her death. That worried me for awhile that she was not actually dead, but she did not come back for the rest of the episode so I am assuming she is. We thought that Fiona was dead, then we find out that crazy bitch faked her own death. She doesn’t look very pretty when she shows up at the house, but it is short lived and she ends up in her personal hell as well. With the crazy axeman and big fish.
Throughout the season, poor Cordelia seemed to get the shitty end of the stick, getting acid in the face, losing her eyes, losing her powers when she gets her eyes back, then stabbing her own eyes out in the hopes of getting her powers back. She was the LAST person I thought to be the Supreme. When you think of someone growing into their powers, you mostly think of children growing into something, not an adult. But really, once back in her powers, she really does seem the best choice. Besides, with all her eye problems, and a trait of the Supreme is not to have any medical faults, that sort of ruled her out for most of the show.
So after all the deaths, reenactments and more FINAL deaths, we are left with the Supreme and her new council. Cordelia has brought the witches out into the world and now a whole new bunch of witches are coming into the coven. Damn, I wish this show would continue. I still want to know what happens with Spalding and the baby in the attic. That story line never did get resolved. I am so upset that it is over.
So now what am I going to do Wednesday nights? Go back to wearing other colors of clothes, yes, and I do still have Criminal Minds and CSI. At least I have Bitten on Monday nights for my paranormal fix. If you haven’t seen Bitten yet, you really should. It is on Syfy and features the werewolves from Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. It is getting better with every show and Clay… I am just really enjoying Clay. We see him stalk through a room, ripping his shirt off and stating “I’m going for a run”. Um, ok. Rewind. Watch that scene again!
I’m also waiting for Witches of East End to return. There is no date set for the second season yet. Then of course we have True Blood in June. Just not enough paranormal shows on TV.
If you read this despite my spoiler warnings and you haven’t seen the series, don’t let this deter you. So much more happened that I couldn’t put it all here so I focused on just the finale. The season was a fast ride on the crazy train and just so much fun.
