SHE LIVES BY HER INTUITION. HE FEEDS ON HER PLEASURE.
Long ago, the world was destroyed by gods. Only nine cities were spared. Separated by vast wilderness teeming with monsters and unimaginable dangers, each city is now ruled by a guardian―royalty who feed on mortal pleasure.
Born with an intuition that never fails, Calista knows her talents are of great value to the power-hungry of the world, so she lives hidden as a courtesan of the Baron of Archwood. In exchange for his protection, she grants him information.
When her intuition leads her to save a traveling prince in dire trouble, the voice inside her blazes with warning―and promise. Today he’ll bring her joy. One day he'll be her doom.
When the Baron takes an interest in the traveling prince and the prince takes an interest in Calista, she becomes the prince’s temporary companion. But the city simmers with rebellion, and with knights and monsters at her city gates and a hungry prince in her bed, intuition may not be enough to keep her safe.
Calista must follow her intuition to safety or follow her heart to her downfall.

Fall of Ruin and Wrath is book 1 in the Awakening series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This is my first time reading a book by this author and I LOVED it. This is a spicy fantasy romance that I am dying to get the next book to ASAP. If you enjoy Fantasy Romance you’re going to love this book.
We start out seeing our leading lady, Calista’s childhood. She’s an orphan with a best friend, Grady, who would do anything for her. I am glad her past was included because we got a glimpse of what the Hyborn are like and how they treat people. Now fast forward to the present time and Calista works as a courtesan of the Baron of Archwood. She is hiding out there because she has powers that some people would kill her for. The Baron in turn lets her use her powers to his benefit in turn for sheltering her and Grady. Her intuition leads her towards helping a prince and everything sets in motion after that. Thorne, the prince Calista helped, is a man you do not want to mess with. But we see a different side of him, a more possessive side of him that will make your toes curl. A lot happens in this book to keep you on your toes, the world building was done perfectly, I loved the characters, and we are set up for things in the next installment. I do not want to ruin any surprises so I’m just going to say you need to grab this one, it’s not a book to miss.
The Narrator:
Soneela Nankani did a fabulous job at the narration. I was immersed in the world of this book and just wanted to keep listening. I need to check out more books she has narrated because I really enjoyed it.
