There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…
When Erith directs me to infiltrate the enemy and topple them from within, I immediately accept the challenge. I figure it’ll be easy until a stunning warrior goddess crosses my path and diverts my attention. The problem? She’s in league with those I was sent to take down. However, I soon discover there is more to her than meets the eye and quickly find my mission divided: disband this new group of Fae Others and save the gorgeous Light from her family—and herself. All it takes is one look, one conversation to know that she’s mine, and I will chance Death’s displeasure to make it so. But the risks are great. Because when you fall in love with the enemy, more than your heart is on the line.

We are continuing the investigation into the Fae Others. Their powers seem to be more than what the Reapers are expecting. In an attempt to gather more information, Rordan infiItrates a gathering suspected of being a recruitment weekend.
I love how Rordan just donned this persona of someone who expects the best of everything and is better than others. He is a great actor. Possibly one of my favorite Reapers.
Fianna was a surprise. She is a contradition. Her whole life seems to revolve around her brother and father, staying dedicated to her role as head of security. She believes she is trapped, obligated to do her job, despite her suspicions that the things her family is doing are wrong.
Rordan arrives and sees there is a lot more to Fianna. He has hints that she is not as involved in her family’s schemes. They have something over her head. What they were doing was straight up mental abuse, so I can see enduring this for as long as she did would lead Fianna to the position she was in. I loved Rordan slowly exposing all the lies her life was built on.
The mission itself brought surprises to the Reapers. Showing them they needed to regroup on just what these Other soldiers are capable of and how they are getting those powers. They have defenses against the Reapers that the Fae should not have. Someone else with some big powers shows up, but does not acknowledge the Reapers.
I do think this installment was one of my favorites. As usual the action is non stop and the secrets and lies uncovered just kept me shocked over and over.
