Summer is now in full swing! We had my sister-in-law and nephew visit for the first week of the month which was amazing because we hadn’t seen them for so many years! We had a great time. Miss them already!

I’ve been kind of distracted with some other projects this month so I didn’t get to blog as much as I wanted. Father’s Day was so much fun. We got my husband a GoPro Max that does 360 video. It took some time with a few Youtube videos to figure out how to work it. But once we did it we made some pretty cool videos. Hubby uses his GoPro on his motorcycle so we get some fun footage. Once it cools down a bit here we’ll get more, but these triple digit days just don’t make for good riding!

My book budget took a bit of a hit this month. The Seven series hard covers came out so I grabbed the whole series to add to my collection. One of the books, Winter Moon actually has some special content so I need to go back and read the physical copy. This will be it for the hard covers. I know Dannika Dark is saying the Crossbreed series will come out in hard cover too, but I have all the paperbacks for that series so I think I will just stick with them. One of my disappointments with the hard covers is they have all new cover art. I really loved the originals. With the Seven series, they all have the same artwork. There is some gold foil, but the similarity of them all makes it hard to distinguish which book you are reading.

Also, to cut down on cost and credits, I signed up for a free month trial of Scribd. It is very helpful since I am still doing a reread of Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark and Scribd has like, the whole series. A few people have told me that Scribd actually throttles the amount of content available to you throughout the month, so I’m testing it out for this trial period. So far I’ve gotten to four books with no problems. I hope it is not a trick. If they give me full access all month, then when I actually pay for the membership and THEN they throttle me. I will be pissed. So far though, the $11.99 membership fee is looking like it is worth it compared to my Audible subscription. The only downside I see is that I won’t own the books. I know that is not a big deal for some people, but it is a hang up of mine.

Category Amount Spent this Month Remaining Balance
B&N Membership Renewal $0.00 $0.00 $0.00
Audible Subscription $170.66 $24.38 $146.28
Books (Ebooks, paperbacks & hardcovers) $590.07 $243.71 $346.36
Total: $760.73 $268.09 $492.64

So, like I said, my big haul was the Seven series by Dannika Dark. When I went to grab images for this post, they all still had their original covers, so you won’t get to see what I was talking about here. I did get a copy of Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs and I am SO happy about that since the release date on that book had been pushed back. I have the hard cover on preorder, because, you know, Patricia Briggs’ covers are amazing. I have started Soul Taken, and I’m struggling a little bit because it has been so long since I read the last one. These are definitely book you cannot read on their own or out of order. I may have to skim the previous book just to catch up a little to get rid of the confusion.

So that was June. I’m hoping things are going to get back into routine and I can get more reviews out. You would think it would be easier since I think most of this year I have spent doing rereads. Which is weird because I have never done rereads until this year.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday weekend! Did you celebrate the 4th at home or did you make it a vacation somewhere? Let me know in the comments what kind of holiday you had!
