Have you ever bought a book just because you fell in love with the cover? And did such book live up to it?

I didn’t think I was the type of person to buy because of how I felt about a cover. But then I looked around my library. Definitely kidding myself. However, this is going to be a bit different for me. Most of the books I read or listen to come from recommendations from other readers or bloggers. Then when I see the cover, I make the decision on whether I want that physical book in my library.

There are maybe 3 or 4 series that I buy because of cover love and the stories live up to the cover. For instance, Patricia Brigg’s and Diana Rowland’s covers definitely live up to the story. Especially Diana Rowland’s White Trash Zombie covers. It should be noted that Briggs & Rowland used the same artist for those covers. On the flip side of that, I’ve always been a Sherrilyn McQueen (Kenyon) reader. It is her later books that I fell in love with the covers. Not so much in love with the stories though. Kind of like we switched from great stories / ok covers to great covers / meh stories. There is also a series by Donna June Cooper that has amazing covers and the stories were definitely good. Maybe not to the level of the cover, but they were good.

Have you grabbed a book because of the cover? Don’t deny it. I think we all do at one point or another, what did you get? What are your favorites?
