When Trez lost his beloved to a tragic death (The Shadows, Black Dagger Brotherhood #13), his soul was crushed and his destiny seemed relegated to suffering. But when he meets a mysterious female, he becomes convinced his true love has been reincarnated. Is he right? Or has his grief created a disastrous delusion?
Therese has come to Caldwell to escape a rift with her bloodline. The revelation that she was adopted and not born into her family shakes the foundations of her identity, and she is determined to make it on her own. Her attraction to Trez is not what she’s looking for, except the sexy Shadow proves to be undeniable.
Has fate provided a grieving widower with a second chance…or is Trez too blinded by the past to see the present for what it really is? In this sensual, arresting book full of the themes of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads where the heart is the only compass that can be trusted…but that may require a courage that neither of them possesses.

Do NOT let the .5 on the series number fool you. This is NOT a novella. At least not the size of a novella. This was definitely a full-length novel.
The tragedy with Selena was a few books back. That book nearly killed me. One, it was spoiled for me on Twitter and almost kept me from finishing it, but I also couldn’t believe it happened. We got an HEA, but it was not as expected.
Fast forward a few books and we now have another Trez story. In my mind, I still can’t fathom how this happened. We have someone on the sidelines trying to work good miracles, but I couldn’t wrap my head around the timeline of this one. It just didn’t add up to how this character could actually be Trez’s mate. Don’t get me wrong, I loved learning about Therese and her family. It just confused me on how this was all made to happen.
Not understanding just how this was all going to work out made me both irritated with Trez, but sorry for him as well. He is grieving terribly, but that is no excuse to put another person through what he was doing. However, when the HEA comes, I was more than ready for it. I was so happy for Trez. He deserved the HEA that was denied him before. Also, Trez is not the only Shadow we hear great news from. A special Christmas gift for iAm who hides it to keep his brother from feeling bad. I loved it though and can’t wait to hear more about it!
Where Winter Finds You ends not only with a great HEA but with a wonderful gathering of family and friends. Perfect for the holiday season! Lots of new beginnings are happening and I hope we continue to follow the Shadows in this series so I can see how they grow.
The timeline was not the only confusion I suffered. The book also begins telling the tale of a human family that has lost a member. It is kind of Christmasy I guess in the way that a miracle happens. But I did not see the point of it being in the story. It was long enough that I didn’t think it needed any filler. Maybe in a later book we will revisit this family.
Jim Frangione yet again truly shines with this Black Dagger Brotherhood book. I previously read these in ebook, but have been drawn to the audiobooks since I first listened. His voice definitely enhances this series!
