Ever since Jane Jameson took over running the Vampire Council for Half-Moon Hollow, things have been a little unorthodox and that doesn’t sit well with the head office. Who would have thought vampires were so into bureaucracy and tradition?

Enter a vamp from corporate who’s determined to unseat Jane and get the council back on track—which means no more of this Kentucky neighborliness and mixing with humans, werewolves, witches, or anything else.

But Jane’s not interested in going back to the bad old days when the council was mired in corruption and tended to “accidentally” eat people now and again, but she might be in over her head this time. Good thing there’s a pretty new face in town who just might be the perfect distraction and help save Jane’s career.

It was so good to finally be back in the Jane Jameson world! I felt like it had been forever since I had seen Jane, Gabriel, Dick and Andrea. Peace, Blood and Understanding brought all our past characters out to play.

Our synopsis would make you believe that the whole story centered on Jane and her position on the council. But that is not all we experience. There is a new character that Jane has under her wing. Meadow Swartz is under probation and is doing what she can to live a peaceful life. Just work in the Council’s records and try to make her store a success. She doesn’t need this stick-up-his-butt investigator messing with her vibe! Especially when Erik Weston is in Half Moon Hollow to investigate Meadow’s friends.

Erik is not happy to be in the small town of Half Moon Hollow and he has an axe to grind. It doesn’t help that anything that can go wrong for Jane and Dick, does. Just proof to Erik that Jane and Dick are incapable of running the Half Moon Hollow council.

It was hard to see Meadow stuck in the middle between Erik and her friends. However the enemies to lovers storyline we find with Meadow and Erik took us through a lot of emotions. This was a fun mystery and romance. Lot’s of danger and conflict for our characters.

Peace, Blood and Understanding was a lot of fun. It was awesome to be back in this world, although the length of time between books had me a bit cloudy on everyone’s stories. Molly Harper can twist a great deal of love and mystery with a good dash of humor. For fans of Half Moon Hollow you definitely don’t want to miss this!

And I can’t leave off without praising the great narration work done by Amanda Ronconi. She’s a superstar in the narrator world and does the humor and mystery of this series beautifully. Harper and Ronconi are an amazing pair!
