Two weeks after joining Keystone, Raven Black is ready to take on the world as a criminal hunter for hire. If only her partner wasn’t a bloodsucking Vampire with a penchant for getting under her skin. Despite her lavish surroundings, Raven misses the freedom of life without rules. And Keystone’s next assignment is about to test her self-control in more ways than one.
Dead bodies are popping up in the human district, and all signs point to a Breed serial killer. In order to catch him, Raven and Christian embark on a mission that takes their partnership into uncharted waters. Lives are at stake. Can Raven trust her instincts, or will she fall into a web spun from lies and deceit?
Time is running out in this pulse-pounding tale of dark secrets, murder, and forbidden desires.

So, I didn’t think I could love a Dannika Dark series more than the Mageri, but she’s gone even further with this Crossbreed series! I’m glad I read the Mageri, so I already have a sense of the world, but there is a lot more to the Crossbreed series.
Raven is part of Keystone now, and is still partnered with Christian. In Ravenheart, the team is working on a case in the human district that sort of looks like a vampire serial killer. There is a chitah detective from the Higher Authority working with them on this.
Raven’s inexperience with this new world she is living in leads her into decisions and actions that are still very much impulsive. Like the decisions she would make if she was still on her own. Also, she is naive in personal relationships so is confused about what she is doing and how she is acting with certain people.
I love seeing Raven grow and change into a Keystone member. I especially love that her partner is Christian Poe so we get to see lots of him. Even when the two are in grave danger, he has some wisecrack to make that will have me laughing out loud. I think the two work well together and I’m really glad they are partnered together.
The identity of the killer surprised me, even though it really shouldn’t have. I didn’t see the signs. Of course, neither did the characters, so I don’t feel so bad!
Ravenheart takes you on a great adventure in search of a killer. With some character growth for Raven. It was a real treat of a listen. I cannot stress enough how much I love Nicole Poole’s narration of this series! She has Christian down pat for me, and I think the accent she has for him makes his wiseass remarks that much funnier.
I know everyone is encouraging me towards the Seven series, and if it is half as good as Crossbreed, I cannot wait! I can’t seem to listen to Dannika Dark’s stories fast enough. She was definitely an excellent choice for a 2018 series binge listening!
