In a place where ecstasy can cost you your life . . .
She's a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure-but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.
Two lovers will dare to risk all.
Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she his avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his quest to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable-and let Tayla possess him, body and soul . . .
Woot! Hitting a book that has been on my TBR for SO long now! I was kind of intimidated by the length of the series and how it crosses with Lords of Deliverance. I was scared I was going to get them all out of order, but some bookie friends have helped me out so I think I’m on the right road!
Eidolon is a great character to introduce first in a series called “Demonica”. He is proof that there is more to demons than evil, violent rampages. He shows they can be caring and even have some human qualities. The problem is going to be convincing the demon slayer Tayla after she is brought to Underworld General after fighting demons herself. Bringing a slayer of demons into UG was really a bad idea. Now it is up to Eidolon to get her out of there and back home before the demons call dibs on her. Inside the hospital they have this great Haven spell so no one can be aggressive and it protected Tayla, but now that it is time to go home, all those demons are just waiting for her to leave the hospital to kill her. Eidolon finds himself trying to save her and to get her home, which is just crazy since she is out to kill every demon she can find.
Eidolon is also fighting a personal problem that could put everyone around him in grave danger. But… just but, if he can find a mate, that might be averted. But can he mate with a human and will Tayla be able to get past the fact that he is a demon to want to be his mate?
I love these two. Tayla is full of fire and can fight with the best of them. I love that in a heroine. I was nervous about Eidolon because he is such a risk for Tayla. He seems like such a human in the way he cares, but oh boy, can he be a dangerous demon. At times, you don’t know whether Tayla should be afraid of him or jump his bones! Oh and the ending has a great surprise!
This is a great setup for the series and I can’t wait to read more. I’m a little leery about the change in narrators each book, but for this book at least, Cassandra Campbell does a really good job. I’m going to miss her in the next book.
