Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.

Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.

Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

I am one of the few who have not read the Kate Daniels series (making up for that now), so Burn For Me was my first Ilona Andrews book. I was SO excited.

I absolutely LOVE Nevada! She is the kick ass sort of character I like, without being overly confident in herself. She is stuck in a situation she knows she is in over her head with, but sticks her neck out there and will do her best to overcome.

Then we have Mad Rogan. His attitude is a great match for Nevada. It drives her crazy and just makes for the best confrontations. Nevada is desperately trying to fight her attraction to Rogan and their interactions are so much fun.

Nevada’s mission, which ends up being the same thing Rogan is looking for involves great magical powers, and a lot of excitement in trying to stop the perpetrator and clear Rogan’s nephew’s name. There are some great action scenes that just end up bringing Nevada & Rogan closer together.

I don’t want to say too much about the ending, but it was a big surprise and I am so excited to see where it goes from here.

About Ilona Andrews

Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. author2sm“Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

  • If you loved this one, you should enjoy Kate! I loved this one, but was disappointed in the lack of romance.

    • I’m always disappointed when there is not much romance, but I think I’m liking the way Rogan is approaching it. I think I laughed all the way to work this morning listening to Kate!

      • So glad you are warming up to Kate! =) I love the way Andrews can catch me off guard and make me LOL.

  • No, you’re not alone, I haven’t read the Kate Daniels series either – yet ! And I want to read this one too 😉

    • SO many series I’m hearing great things about and can’t wait to get to! This one really had me glued to the kindle!

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I loved this one too 🙂

  • I started the Kate Daniels series fairly recently, need to read this one! Didn’t realize it was book one of a new series 😀

    • I was glad this was book one. I have so many Kate Daniels to catch up on, but I really wanted to try a Ilona Andrews book. I’m so glad I did!

Glad to hear you enjoyed this one so much. I recently gave in and read Kate Daniels and wasn’t impressed. All the talk about Curran (The lion shifter) and how amazing of a character he was left me disappointed. I don’t know if it was all the hype or if the series just isn’t for me. 🙁 Although, I will have to give this one a try. I like that it’s a new series that’s just starting. I won’t feel like I’m playing catch up with everyone else.

    • I’ve just started in on the Kate Daniels series in audio, and it is taking me a bit to get into. Might be my mood. So far, I don’t think there has been enough Curran for me to even form an opinion on him.
